Dodge manual 9-9 cylindar head installation step 3) "coat new gasket lightly with chrysler sealer part number 1057794 or equivalent. Install gasket and cylinder head."

what is the equivalent? neither me nor the parts store was sure if hi temp silicone is an equivalent.

I am using a standard felpro gasket

thanks so much.

That instruction was for the OE-type shim steel gasket. Strictly speaking you don't need sealant with the composition type head gasket, though it is good insurance to coat both sides with something good like copper gasket spray ("Copper Cote", "Copper Spray-A-Gasket", etc.)

Thanks Dan da Man. I will look for the spray type sealent and save the hi-temp silicone for the manifold gasket.

I will have the engine back together this month and will post pics and a step by step recount of how to change your piston rings with the engine still in the car.

Ilearned a lot and appreciate your help throughout the process. Stay warm

And thanks for visiting the web site. Hope to run into out there at a show soon. Until
then, stay strong. God bless

Mmm...glad to help, but don't goop the manifold gasket with sillycone. It is very much worth your while to get the good gaskets for the manifolds-to-head and intake-to-exhaust junctions.
