I have the typical whistling vent windows--I wonder what people have done to shut them up successfully?

I replaced the vent latches with ones in slightly better shape--they have the white plastic/nylon BB at least. I can't say they are in great shape but at least they are there. I slid a nickel under them which helps somewhat. Does anyone have a source for NEW latches, or has anyone glued in a replacement BB?

I suppose I could tape or seal the vent windows shut but I find them useful in the summer. I DO have all new seals on all the glass. Opening the back window (its a truck) does help depressurize the cabin.

Suggestions anyone?

Very easy, cheap fix that worked for the five(?) years I owned my '89 D100 with whistling driver's vent window: Grab an ordinary nickel — a plain old 5¢ piece. Swing the vent window catch to the "up" (open) position. Place the nickel so its lower edge is on the lip at the bottom of the vent window catch "strike plate" on the window frame, and its upper edge is near the top of the strike plate. Close the vent window and swing the vent window catch down so it rides up over the nickel. The vent window will be drawn much more tightly against the frame, and there will be no more whistle. I meant to glue the nickel in place, but never bothered since I quickly grew able to do this one-handedly while driving, without looking.
