My 1965 6 will only idle with an advance of 13 degrees. Did I install timing chain wrong?
has mild Clifford cam, Holley 390.

Is the timing mark correct? (pulley ring slipped?)
Where do you have the valve lash set? (try looser)

Mark is correct. Before changing timing chain I was able to set idle at 2 degrees btdc. Now it stalls if I don't have it advanced. Lash is .016I & .018E If the chain was a tooth off would it act this way? Thanks.

Yes, the engine will run and yes, if you are on the retard side of the cam, you will have low cylinder pressure which will need more advance to run.
Sounds like you need to check your cam's position.
Here is a link to the message about the same problem and how to check the cam's position.
I would also loosen-up the exhaust lash some, that will help the engine idle better.

Split overlap, cam position test
