I heard that the backing plates for the 8.25, and the 8.75 are interchangeable. Is this true? |

What exactly are you trying to do? |

I'd like to experiment with ducting on another set of backing plates, rather than having my car down too long, and there is a guy locally on craigslist with a set of backing plates from the 8.75. my car has an 8.25. hence the question... |

As long as they are not A body backing plates you should be fine. The 10X1-3/4 brakes used a different plate I believe. |

In that case I'd just get some backing plates from a big bolt pattern 7 1/4. I put 7 1/4 backing plates on my 8 3/4, but it used shortened C-body wagon axles. Like 'Zilla I believe the A-body 8 3/4 backing plates are different.
