Ok after I got everything wired up the car fired up instantly.Seemed to run fine, then when I put it in gear for the test drive it died...did this several times...same results.I played with the dizzy, switched the wires around. Then the car would start idle for a few seconds then die.Did some more fiddling around and then the car wouldnt fire.I set the engine to TDC and still can get it to fire.Any ideas for the morning? Im going to bed.

1967 Dodge Dart 225/6 904 used a new 4 pin HEI mounted on a heatsink to the fender.Everything is hooked up per the HEI artical.Still using the stock coil(dont know if this is the problem???)

First thing i would replace would be the HEI unit. There have been several documented cases of new units being bad right out of the box. Take it back to the parts store, have them test it, and see if it is no good. Or just buy another one.

Stock coil + HEI = no. You need to use a coil appropriate to the ignition system.

What coil?
Your stock coil might work OK for awhile, but really isn't a good choice. At the very least, replace it with a coil meant for use with electronic ignition. Such a coil would be a Standard-BlueStreak #UC16 or NAPA Echlin #IC27. It's best, though, to use a coil intended for use with a high energy ignition system. If you'd like to mount the module off by itself somewhere, then a good coil option is the stock external-mount GM HEI coil used on '75-'84 GM cars mostly with 4-cylinder engines. The coil is a Standard/BlueStreak DR35:

I used a stock replacement coil (that had been in the car for a decade) for a while after switching to HEI. I don't have any performance data, but it did run and drive. Soon after, it was replaced with an Accel Superstock coil (8140) which has worked since.
A proper coil would let you take advantage of the HEI's improved switching.
