i just bought a new valve cover [its a nice chrome one] and my valve cover i have on now has three holes oil cap, PVC, and breather the new one has two holes and it says that its Non baffled i know its a stupid question but what goes in which holes and what is non baffled |

Nope...it's not a nice chrome one. It's a shoddy Chinese chrome one. See Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3. If you are bound and determined to put this low-quality piece of junk on your engine, and if you can make the bolt holes line up, then set up the breather and PCV this way.

jmccabe, To be honest, these valve covers are just OK. They tend to have installation issues that you have to monkey with, but they can be made to work with the breather mod that Dan linked to. Some of the folks on here have them installed and they look nice. Heck, I even have one in the basement that I picked up a couple of years ago from a speed shop that was going out of business (before I heard all the warnings about them). Fitted it up to a head recently, and yea, I'd would have to oval the bolt holes about 1/16" or so, but it is fairly sturdy, the gasket surface is flat, and has a real nice chrome finish on it...nicer than the finish that my $144 Offy cover came with. Go ahead and put it on your car. If it doesn't work out, your down 20 bucks...plus S&H Good luck! |

where do you suggest that i buy a valve cover from? i don't have a lot of money laying around so not to expensive |

If you don't have a lot of money to spare for a valve cover, why not clean up the stock one, paint it, and use that? Quality, fit, and function are all excellent with a stock cover. |

I have always wanted to take a stock cover, bead blast it, and polish it. I think the polished stamped steel stock cover with a clear coat on it would look sharp. |

Tri City plating in Johnson City TN does truly good show quality plating. I sent them my truck bumpers via a pal at the Mopar Nats and am stunned at how perfect they came back. I don't even run them every day for fear of damage, only put em on for shows. A stock valve cover chromed was $200, and an oil pan was $325. Partly why I was giving away stock pans and valve covers this week, but sold the chrome valve cover to use the Offy group buy. Killer chrome ain't cheap, but it will stop you dead when walking a show. rock '64d100 |

I have the Chinese cheapy like you. Usually have to start the bottom bolts first. Hard to get the gasket to stick to the chrome. Glue it with 3M "gorilla snot" weatherstrip adhesive and let it dry. Grease the engine side and don't worry about it. Get a cork gasket. Do the PCV mod and you are good to go. Breather won't puke oil on it until you have lots of blow by. Before mounting get the grommits in the "Help" section at the parts store. Get a POS Chinese built Mopar Performance breather to grace it |
