I bought a bushing kit from them 6 years ago and I'm finally putting it in. LCA bushings are no longer listed on their site. Did they stop making them and if so why? Wondering if there's some defect etc. If anyone has used them, do you need the inner shells as well as the outers? if memory serves it's just the outers. Don't want to waste the inners if I need them.The bushings don't seem to fit over them. |

I used a set of their strut bushings after I looked at a set of Norris Mquay Bushings sent in my PST kit...and said 'No Way'...they seem to be of pretty decent quality. There has always been the debate about poly LCA bushings, one of the major points is they don't 'flex' much which allows the torsion bars to walk back and forth a bit in their LCA pockets.... The newer rubber bushings seem to be OK if everything else you put in is poly... -D.Idiot |

Someone on here was working on designing a set of poly LCA bushings that would solve the shortcomings of the poly bushings currently available. Can't remember who it was because I lost my link to the thread and for some reason search isn't working for me right now. He was making some real progress, but IIRC he had some personal issues come up and wasn't able to finish. Would've been a big hit if he could've though. I was closely following it.

Actually, Doc had come up with a little device he called the "Dutra Disc"... quite sometime back this debate on bushings went back and forth over at moparts, I think...Doc posted the pic of his device and the post just went cold right after that... it was like 'the final word' had been spoken... LOL... -D.Idiot |

I certainly don't want to reignite THAT debate. (I had forgotten about the poly issue) I'm going to order rubber ones from Rock if my local parts store doesn't have them.(great store) |

Haha, I had already googled it, but that pic was the only thing I could find on it. I was hoping Doug could explain what exactly he was doing with that design and what he managed to acheive.Don't know anything about it though. I still have yet to tear into a set of LCAs so until I have the experience I consider myself a newb with this suspension setup. Walt, definitely a pricey way to go, but if you've got cores to send in for them, looks like it'd be worth it (especially for me, since I don't have a welder and still want to box my LCAs). I'll have to keep that in mind when I get ready to tear into the suspension. |

the disc keeps the poly bushings from 'walking' rear-ward, eliminating the pressure on the torsion bar clip I had used poly bushings in the LCA's years ago, and had problems with them not seating correctly forward enough, they always walked rear ward and put pressure on the torsion bar clip... reason is because the poly bushings don't come in a sleeve, just plain slippery poly... the fix is either the special dutra disc, or use rubber bushings that are in the steel sleeves.. |
