Has anyone used the Slant Six fastner kit from M M S and Accessories, they speak of a 152 piece, stainless, allen head, engine fastener set for 48.00. A hex head set is 38.00 Appears to be all the non-critical fasteners, including intake and exhaust to head. For what its worth, their web site has a rocking little ditty on it. thanks |

You said it... a group of non-critical socket head cap screws, in stainless. You can buy the same for less at a local fastener supplier house, if you know the sizes. The intake studs are not correct, the ones in the kit are continually threaded 5/16-18 unc for the full length, not like the factory studs that are thread from each side, 5/16-18 unc for 1/2 inch on one side & 5/16-24 unf for 7/8 on the other end... with 1/4 inch unthreaded area in the middle. The studs in the kit do work but have no positive way to stop their installation depth into the head. Also, do you have allen head socket drivers? You will quickly find-out that installing multiple allen head cap screws can be a real PITA if you do not have the correct tools. I use the fancy SST fasteners for show car engines and stick with factory bolts for street and race car applications. DD |
