any information on adding a turbo to a 1984 dodge ram half ton van, /6 225 cu. in. would be appreciated.
do i want to? makes any or alot of difference? more trouble than they're worth? only makes the engine faster, or is it still powerful and reliable?
any experiences related would be good to know.

does it have a low gear 904 in it now?if it has the 727 swap the trans out for a 904. the best thing to do engine wise is head work, compression and exhaust.

Think about a turbo project REAL HARD before you jump in.It,s best suited for a street rod with custom fuel injection and an owner that understands the fabrication and tuning involved.True, I'm running a carb, but it was a hornet's nest tuning it,and I was lucky I didn't cook a motor.with your heavy van it will be under a heavy load most of the time and it will tax the engine and cooling system.Even chrysler didn,t recommend trailer towing with the turbo 2.2 mini van.

why swap in a 904 in place of a 727?

I do agree start with bigger better flowing intake/exhaust and head work.

904 use less hp than a 727 and they are lighter in weight, also the lower first gear in the lockup trans give more torque at low speed.
