Post subject:  Scored me a Dana 60!
Out of a '67 F-350, complete drum to drum 35 spline with an open diff, and only 75 bucks 8)

Once I get my current projects for the car done I'll start in on it. Cut to the same flange-to-flange length as a stock '74 A-body axle, Mopar ends, 3.55 gearset and an Eaton Truetrac. It'll look kinda funny in a car with an only mildly built slant, but it'll definitely handle the big block when that's ready (and the coming nuclear holocaust) :D

Now I'm freakin stoked to get home. Wouldn't have been able to get it if it wasn't for the help of a new friend I made on Bigblockdart. I promised him a case of beer when he makes it out to Spokane soon after I return to the Sates in May.[/img]

No joke. I can't wait to get started on it. Gonna have alot of questions (and hopefully info and tips to share) as I build it so I figured I'd post it here instead of chat, and make a build thread out of it.

Make sure to measure the axle tube diameter before you cut. Some of the truck Dana's have heavier tubes and the car ends won't fit. :shock:

Hmmm, I hadn't thought of the ends possibly not fitting. I suppose depengine on the thickness of the tubes I might be able to have the outer diameter machined down enough to fit the ends (I know of a good machine shop near the base that can do almost anything as long as there's metal to work with). I'll have to ask the guy to measure the tubes for me. I've already figured I'll likely need bigger U bolts and spring plates...

I thought all the rear ends used 3" u-bolts except for the 7 1/4 which used 2.5". If you have an 8.25" now, and the u-bolts are too small for the dana60, the truck tubes may indeed be different.

That's what I'll have to verify. If they're 3" or close, I should be good to go. IIRC they range from 2.7" to 4". Hopefully it'll fit....

Look for Dr. Diff on Moparts and talk to him. He is a great guy to deal with and a Dana guru. He can tell you what will and won't work. :D :D

Just had the guy who picked up the axle check the tubes for me, and they're 3" tubes!

BOOYA! I really lucked out with this one.

I'm really excited to get started on this project now.

Flying anvil, nice score. I was thinking of putting one in my 330 wagon. Maybe we'll see you at SRP if they ever post a schedule.

I'm hoping once I have the Duster in good enough condition for long road trips I'll be able to start going to some of the meets; at least around the Northwest.

I posted a link to a schedule of sorts in the SRP thread in the events forum, or someplace like that. I'd link to it, but I'm running out of lunch time. :)
