Looking in my '62 counter parts book today I found a six cylinder block for a 5 ton truck that I wonder if any of you all ever saw? It is 743 cubic inches, bore of 5.12 and stroke of 6 inches. I'd love to try to get it as a torque monster on rails if any ever got sold and lived on in a junkyard. You know its winter when you are reading parts lists for 60's mopar trucks.

That thing got a Hemi?

Naw, don't need it. I got 1.5 rear gears and I get rubber in all six speeds...

That would be an impressive sight, but I wonder what they did for induction and cylinder head design?

Big CI 6 cylinder truck motors were pretty common back then. They died off because they were not very fuel efficient even by those days standards.

Why not go for a Hall-Scott 400 series? 1090.6 cubic inches, overhead cam, twin ignition, 865 foot pounds of torque @ 1,200 rpm and 286 horsepower @ 1,800 rpm. Don't even ask about fuel economy.

The mileage in this thing is killing me! I get 5 gallons per mile while pulling my apartment building."

Search for Hall Scott to see big L6 gasoline/LPG engines. Also look up Buda and Hercules. If you want to go diesel I suggest you look at Nordberg, GM's EMD, Gardner, etc. Plenty on YouTube. YouTube user Semidiesel has lots of neat stuff to watch.

International made a bunch of big industrial sixes that had distributors and carburators on one side and pump and injectors on the other. You started it on gasoline and switched to diesel after it warmed up.

Back when I was in high school (72) there was some old FWD concrete 10 wheel redimix trucks in the woods. They had 6 bangers in them with 4 barrels.
