Post subject:  Torque specs
Hello, new guy here as I just picked up my Aspen two weeks ago. Anyway, I have an exhaust leak....I'm assuming it's at the manifold gasket. Anybody know the torque specs for thoose bolts? Also if I were to upgrade my intake and exhaust any ideas on a good setup (all else being stock except for thoose mods and a change to dual exhaust)

nuts are 10ftlbs, make sure you don`t have a cracked manifold.with the exhaust go with a 2in or 2.25 dia pipe all the way to the bumper.

It's cast right on top of the intake manifold.

Welcome on the board. It is very much worth your while to get the good gaskets for the manifolds-to-head and intake-to-exhaust junctions, so you don't have to do this job twice. Also, as quickly as you can, get the relevant books for your car. There is no substitute!

Yes on the factory super six...I'm getting 15-17MPG, is that normal? Has anybody else seen factory seat covers?

Thats pretty low on mileage. I would look for 22+ with a super 6. However this depends on your driving habits.

true....i suppose 70 is abt fast on the freeway :p im not really happy with how the tranny shifts either...its iether too fast or lagging on the downshift.....new filters and flid may help.......what fluid is good?

Move the kickdown rod aft toward the transmission in small amounts (like 1/16" at a time) to adjust shift points. Also adjust the bands while your at it.

I forgot to ask I assume u mean adjust the bands on the trans while I'm changing out the filters......I'm still at a loss about the correct fluid though..I'm still waiting on my service manuals (magial 4 books) and I'm missing the owners manual :roll:

Well, not to be a smart ass, but generally I like to unbolt them and then bolt them back on. Sometimes it helps to jack the car up and take the tire off too.

But seriously, replacing shock, especially on an Aspen, is a fairly straightforward job. You should get at least the Chilton's manual for your car if you can't find/afford a factory service manual. This should be available at your local parts store.

I'll try to remember about the bolts (tricky little things) :-P I'm just waiting on the factory service manuals to arrive.
