After getting my 225 from Doug Dutra I now want to start upgrading it......i was thinking about ordering a clifford intake manifold and clifford headers and a 2 barrel carb. any suggestions on what carb to get??? will i be able to put on the headers, intake manifold and still run the single barrel carb (until i get more money) and is it really as simple as unbolting the exhaust and intake manifolds and bolting the new ones on? thanks.

Don't start by picking out parts, start by figuring out, in detailed particular, what exactly you want the car to do that it doesn't do now. Then post your (specific, particular) goals in those terms to the board here, and you'll get good quality advice pointing you toward and away various parts and procedures.

In general, you can get more effective and more cost-effective parts, and expose yourself to considerably less financial risk, if you avoid Clifford.

Basically a stock rebuild using a later "AM" block.
The block and head were decked to get a true 8.5 compression.
A reground stock cam advanced 2 degrees.
A little clean-up in the ports with a basic valve job.
New rings, bearings and a blueprinted oil pump set at 55 psi.
I did the engine install and it runs "smooth as silk" with lots of off-idle and low RPM power.

I would Super 6 it and Run 2.25 exhaust all the way back.

It will be faster and still Purr like a kitten.

Yup, if what you're shooting for is a driver, do as Sandy says. If you want an exhaust upgrade, use Dutra Duals rather than headers. What kind of ignition system are you running?

unfortunatly i still have the points system. gotta save up some cash to get the petronix. check out my "problem" i have under the electrical section.

as for the super six setup looks like i'll be going that direction and getting some dutra duals from doug. now i just have to find all the other stuff i need for that setup huh.

Not neccessarily, it just means make sure to use the 2.25 from the manifold to the muffler and than from the muffler on. Good luck, the Super Six is a great idea, along with an upgraded ignition system. If you want the six to be a long term goal I would go for an offy with a 390 over the $700 intake/header combination.
