Post subject: | Vaccum Solenoid |
I have narrowed down my vacuum leak problem and it is linked to a solenoid on the side of the air cleaner. This solenoid gets its vacuum from the carb and the out the other side it goes to the distributor. I believe this is only suppose to have vacuum at any other speed other than idle so that it dosent make the distributor run advanced when idling. When i start up the truck it will run good until it gets vacuum built up and then advances the distributor. I found out that while driving it, it dosent seem to run bad at all. In fact it has plenty of power. So my question is, is where can i get one of these and what is the name of this solenoid. Thanks |

That's the OSAC valve. Bypass it: run the hose directly from the vacuum advance port on the carb to the distributor. Your truck will run better, perform better, and get better fuel mileage. |

What a timely post, I am trying to sort out how to set up my super six conversion and had the same question about what the solenoid on the side of the air cleaner does. There is at least one other person benefiting from this one. Thanks, Scott |
