Electrical supply gurus,

I'd like to buy a few of these as spares, and need one for use now. I bought the Standard NS11 switch for the trans, but can't find the connector through usual sources.

Thanks,

Lou

Well, h'mm. That appears to be tougher than it would seem! You could spend $50+ on it from Chrysler under P/N 4209 695

Wow, I thought this was a perfect job for SuperPartsMan Dan. Glad to hear I'm not off base with searches. I guess I'll use an old one for now. Bet I could solder to those pins too and put another connector on...

Thanks for looking!

And that number I gave above looks like not even the right number for the up-to-'86 switch; it's from an '88 FPC. Looks like the '69-'86 Neutral Safety/Reverse switch connector is not serviced by the aftermarket and has not been serviced by Chrysler for a long time. :-(

I wonder if I could swap in an '86-up? switch into my '74 trans??

I did check and of course they are different switch part numbers, but they look similar.

OK, I compared '86-up and old style switches. The pins are about 0.2" shorter on the old style and the '86-up connector will slip on there. All that needs done is trimming down the old syle pins.

Can we get the '86-up pigtail?

I also compared the switches on the inside of the trans. Old and new look almost identical, but old metal pin and plastic switch parts are about 0.080" further into the switch body (away from the trans internal shifter mech), so not sure they'll interchange.

'86+ pigtail was the $50+ item called out above — not serviced by aftermarket. :-(

Ouch. Time to just get the soldering iron and heatshrink out...
