I had a fluke opportunity to get a few of my adapter plates anodized in different colors. This got me thinking, I wonder if I should do this regularly? Aluminum tends to oxidize with time and this would protect it. If somebody wanted the silver aluminum look I could get it clear anodized and it would still protect it. Do you guys think somebody would pay an additional $10 for this (it's not free) or would more people be interested in saving the $10 and getting bare aluminum? What's everybody's favorite color (of these)? BTW these plates allow you to run GM TBI throttle bodies in place of Carter BBD 2bbl carbs on Super Six intakes. Gold, Clear, Blue, Red: |

What's the cost of the adaptor? I personally wouldn't bother, but the incremental price increase of anodizing would be a consideration....... |

I've been selling them for $75 (including priority shipping) on my website www.tbiadapterplates.com. The only issue is that to anodize them I pay a lot price so I have to get a bunch of parts anodized at the same time to make it cost effective so I need to decide first if it's worth it or not. |

Heres 2 cents worth (cdn) from someone with a similar patented product. My product is simple to make (yet mathematically complex) and the basic parts are easy for anyone to get. I get mine electroless nickle plated at considerable cost. It makes a very nice , properly welded, corrosion resistant product . I price this where I think the tip over point is . Thats where a guy might say Screw This and make his own .....but it will be a piece of crap for what he saved. It also means I can protect my patent by having the only decent ones on the market. Sell only one colour....do them all (none without) .....have enough on hand to meet 1 month demand. I already made my wn adapter.....but may be in if its thin enough. click to view full-version |

That sounds like a good idea, I may just start anodizing them all like you said. BTW, if anybody was interested, the red one is on ebay right now item 260363701657 as of right not it's still .99 and has a couple days left. |

I'm with Sandy. Do em all one color - red or blue I'd think best. What cars does this GM TB come on? OK, I guess this'll be in your other link on this part. I may do an EFI setup on an alum SS manifold I just came into. Lou |

Rochester 220s are available on everything from 2.8 v6s to TBI 454 1-1/2 ton trucks. A slant would like the 45lb/hr version. The one in my picture is a 55lb/hr mid 90s pickup version mounted transversly. My big torque Vortec SBC uses a bored 55mm TB and 85lb/hr injectors from the 454 version. It will support about 450 lbs torque. The TB in your 64 is Holleys version of the same thing. |

Red or blue is not a good choice — make them colourless/plain, make them black, or if you absolutely must, make them gold. Something that goes with any other colour. People pick all kinds of different colours for their engines, and if it doesn't happen to be (or go with) the colour you arbitrarily pick, you risk losing a sale. |

Im with Dan ....Id chose clear. Show the quality instead of hiding it. Besides Red would clash with Dans Orange nitrous plate...... |

So the 4.3L and 5.0/5.7 TB's are same bore size? That's good to know. I have a few different injectors laying around. Lou |

I have seen smaller bore V6 Tbs.....and there is a 1bbl version used on Jeep Cherokees 4.3/5.0/5.7 are pretty consistent. Later ones use a different TP sensor.... They can be overbored (I like mine) and injector pods are interchangeable.....I have a 454 85lb/hr @ 10lbs pod in my truck The 4.3 with 45lb injectors would be a good place to start with on a slant. You want a TB with appropriate sized Idle air control (IAC).....which is why just plopping on a 454 TB is out.....(they actually flow less WOT) You can easily regulate fuel pressure up to about 15lbs . I ran out of fuel at 13.5lbs with 65lb injectors....so went with 85lb at 10 lbs pressure....much better. Ive always wondered if the 747 puter would support a TB supplied by mechanical fuel pressure (stock pump ).... automatic fuel pressure regulation....no return line..... use big enough injectors to have adequate fuel at WOT with 8lbs fuel pressure. |

Thanks, Sandy. Would be fun to rig one of these up with the other megasquirt ECU I have hanging around. Lou |
