The o ring that seals the od distributor shaft diameter,, are those a parts store item? or is there a common o ring that works?

needing an o ring for a 76 slant distributor,, the receiver groove is about .200 wide,, I have a old 60's points slant distributor, the o ring on that one is about .090 wide..so there was a change made at some point in time.

thanks

I don't know the size, but these are standard "dash" sized o-rings. It is an aerospace standard and most common. Auto parts or a bearing house should have them. McMaster Carr will have them too but you have to buy pack. They have an online size chart on their website.

My local Ace Hardware does not have much selection but the Broulims food store has about any size you would ever need in the plumbing section which was a surprise. I'd call around some and perhaps you will get lucky.

Good luck.

That's a funny thing about working on an old car, don't limit your search to "auto" parts stuff. Not sure what part of the country you're in but I've had good luck at tractor supply or rural king for fittings, o-rings and things and yes even the hardware store. Heck, There is even an electronics surplus store around here that had huge o-rings for my power steering pump and turbo.

thanks

yep if it its a universal application, lots of places to find o rings, kind of hoped some one that has already been down this road would respond, picking an o ring that fits the receiving groove is part of it, also best to get the to get the right compression, lead in chamfer angle.... durometer material....
