My gas gauge doesen't work. Where should I go with this? If it is the sender, where do I get one? i don't know what Ohm readings I'm supposed to be buying when inquiring about a sender. Thanks. |

0-90 ohm "chevy" senders may send too much current to the gauge causing it to fail. |

| Post subject: | Fuel Guage |
Ok check this out. As suggested I "wiggled" the wires on the fuel sender. I have no movement on the fuel guage. But my oil pressure guage now reads "3/4" full. LOL. Somewhere under the hood someone has "hacked " wires. I just want the fuel guage to work properly. Oil pressure I'm not worried about as I installed a manual AutoMeter guage. Although if there's and easy fix for that too I'd like to know. If i could find wiring diagram, It may be easier to trace. Unless anyone has the color codes for me to trace out. Its a 79 D 100 P/U with 225/904. thanks. |

So, you wiggled a wire at the rear of the vehicle and now your other gauges are acting up ? The next thing I,d check is to sure the dash panel is grounded. Be sure all the screws in the dash are tight, and their might be a separate ground wire that needs to be checked. |

It looks to me as though the oil pressure guage is now the gas guage. I have a mechanical oil pressure guage now hooked up and have adequate oil pressure. The electric oil guage seems to registering teh fuel level, however will not go to the far right when full, just to about 60 lbs. lol. |

I know it’s not funny but that’s a hoot. It does sound like lack of ground or a messed up ground and/or crossed up wires. You’ll have to check that everything is grounded and trace all the wires from the gauge. And you don’t wiggle the sender wire - you remove it and ground it to the frame or body. With a full ground the gauge should go to 80 or 100 lbs. Danny |
