Hi, I was wondering if there was ever a floor shift manual transmission for the d150, and if so where can i purchase one? And what type of transmission is stock for the 225 slant six?

yup; probably an A833 OD; IIRC Greg Ondayko had one for sale; and I believe he's also in Pennsy; (I think that's who it was anyways) but someone here always has one layin around.

My father owned a 82 pick-up with the 833OD floor shift.

That era of D150 came with two four speed floor shift options. One was the 833OD, the other was the NP435 which has the "granny" super low first gear. The 833OD would be my choice unless I were pulling a very heavy load every day.

On the 833 the linkage is on the side, on the 435 the shifter goes in a hole in the top of the trans.

hey top hat i have a 83 d150 short bed with a /6 225 it has a 904 right now and its going out , i want a manual but my life does not require me to tow any thing big right now that is. is the only other tranny other than the 435 is the 833, ive heard the 833 is only for cars ofcourse i know you can make any thing fit . but if i do go with the 435 is there different 1st gear i can change out with to get the strength of the 435 with changing first gear or is it going to be easier to just go with the 833.
