I am considering doing the unthinkable...I want to take the rally wheels off of my dart and put the stock 13 inch steelies and hub caps on A big reason I want to take the rallys off is to sell them and use the cash to upgrade the front and rear suspension to the '73+ Spool mount style, and go LBP. |

If you have the dog dish hubcaps, use at least 14" rims as the dog-dish hubcaps will fit them. For 14 x 4.5 use 185/75 R 14, for 14 x 5.5 use 195/70 R14 or 205/70 R14 If its full wheel covers, the correct diameter is a 185/80 R13 tire; however they're hard to find............... So with a 13", get largest diameter tire you can find |

Its the stock set of full wheel covers for my GT. I want to go dog dish when I upgrade to LBP with a set of ram charger wheels. But untill then,I think it would be kinda cool to run the stock wheels/hub caps. Not to mention it would be much easier to Steer(manual steering) and prob. get better m.p.g's to boot since the current rallys have 245/60's on them. |

The goodyear marathon is a trailer service only and i would never put them on a car. Tread is shallow and tire is not made for traction, handling or dispersion of water, and overall this tire is now overpriced china junk. If you need a 185-80r13 i would go with a Hankook 714, which is a decent all season tire and the price isn't bad either. I have been selling these for going on 2 years now and has proved well. |

Did a quick search and saw they are steelies from a 300? Can you tell me more about how they fit? My ultimate goal is to go BBP and get a set of 17 inch steelies with dog dishes...I am building my Dart more for the twisties. How was the handleing improvement when you put the 17's on? I bet it was a whole different animal! |

I run the Firestone FT380. It's the only reasonably priced whitewall I could find. It's a quiet tire. http://www.bridgestonetire.com/tiresele ... P175/80R13 --Walt Jackson |

its a shame you dont live on the east coast i would give you everything you need to go to bbp. but it always works out that way. your right the hankook is "okay" but i would choose others first. i love the 17 inch wheels and tires 225 45 17 front and 245 45 17 rear.5 inch spacer in the rear for added piece of mind. i'll send you a pm with more pictures and info when i get back home to computer. over at my shop working on new 225 for the dart. man slants are addicting |

I did the same thing some others have done and got the same results. The widest 13 inch tire is the Goodyear Marathon trailer tire. The widest passenger car tire I could find was a P175/70R-13. The 175 section width is a close approximation to a 6.95 tire. Given that the older cars had 6.50-13 tires on the /6 and 7.00-13 tires on the V-8 (at least in 1966), the 175s ought to work. Several manufacturers make them.A big reason I want to take the rallys off is to sell them and use the cash to upgrade the front and rear suspension to the '73+ Spool mount style, and go LBP. If you're coming off of 14 or 15 inch rallye wheels with a 185 or wider radial tire, the 175-13s are going to feel like the road has been greased. |

If you have a 2.93:1 axle and don't change the speedometer pinion (17 teeth?), your speedometer will be off by -6.9% (compared with -1.2% for the 175/80R13). You would have to install the 18 tooth pinion for the odometer to read correctly (off by -1.4%). I think it would be more accurate to say that you found a lower profile tire as both are similar width. The 185/80R13 with a 2.93 axle and 17-tooth pinion would be off by +1.4%

I have the 13" with dog dish covers, and I like this combo. I'm going to get the car repainted soon, so I'd like to fill up the wheel well appropriately. Right now I've got 175 70R13s, and they look WAY too small. I had them put on because that was the tallest we could find, but I now see there are some options out there. I found some 185/80R13s, which are about the same as the factory original diameter. I'd like to run these on my Dart. However, would these be too wide on my tiny stock rim? |
