What kind of symptoms have people encountered with a bad hazard switch? I began with no driver's side turn signals. I traced continuity to the column. Replaced the turn signal flasher, which made the left rear signal work. Then I replaced the turn switch with a new one. The front left still didn't flash, parking filament works. Wasted money throwing parts at the problem. Also, now when four way flashers are on, the right rear doesn't work. I'm starting to think there may be a short in the hazard switch. |

I had a like problem with my 67" Dart, and additionally my right rear brake light was not working as well. A sloppy directional switch was the cause. You can test for slop by gently pulling the directional switch lever toward the steering wheel while operating the four way flashers. This action will temporarily bring the contacts together in the switch If all the lights fire that is the problem. Also you need to check the continuity of the multi wire connector at the end of the directional light switch pig tail under the dash. Make sure all of the brass connectors are making good contact with their mates. One other cause could be faulty grounds at one or more of the lamps, and or corroded lamp holder sockets. Check for corrosion, bad or loose connections at all four corners of the car. Brake (undo), clean & remake all these connections. If they are real nasty replace them with like connectors. Lastly you could pull the four way switch from the dash and check its continuity. Unless this switch has been wet, and is corroded I doubt that it is the problem where it is so seldom used. |

Thanks, I already ruled out the directional switch, since it was the same when I swapped in a used one, and also an new switch. I also have had the connector apart a number of times, and have checked the continuity. I have been avoiding pulling the panel, like a drunk looking for his keys under a streetlight. I'm going pull the dash and get in there with the meter. |
