Post subject:  Power to manul brake conversion

Got a 64 Ply Fury in the shop. I suggested the owner change to from a single pot master to a dual cylinder. He would like to do this and also get rid of the power brake setup (drag car). Can any one tell me what parts are needed to do this change over (convert from power to manual)?

I think all you need are the manual MC and pushrod. Not sure if you can buy stock pushrods, but adj ones are available. Discs in front or drum? Oh yeah, and the prop valve, but these are really just a junction block for Mopars with a brake press warning switch in them. Could just use tee for front brakes and run the rear line direct.

Does he want newer 2-bolt alum MC or early iron one? magnumhp.com had adapter plates and 2-bolt MC's last I looked.

All he'd really need is the manual master cylinder and pushrod, like you said. No need to change the distribution block, since the brakes themselves will be the same (I'm assuming).

I'd say search the junk yards and pull the parts you need from a manual brake car that has your same brake combination (disc/drum or drum/drum) and the master cylinder you're looking for. Also talk to the guys on Bigblockdart.com and see if anyone can help you out on parts. I've made a few posts under the name Spook50 talking about the same thing (just not for a drag car) and decided on buying a Wilwood master cylinder from Bill Reilly over there once I get ready to start on my Duster's brakes.

It is 4 wheel drum. I know how to change from a single pot to a dual pot, manual to manual. Just not sure what is needed on a "B" body to remove the "power" setup.

IIRC, all you need to do is remove the booster and the bracket and plug the vac line and your dual pot MC should bolt right up. Again, you'll need the appropriate push-rod, but it should be just that easy.
