http://tinyurl.com/aqk26z Can this type of valve seal be installed with the valves held in there closed position with air pressure? Is there a special tool for this? My guides are .500 with 11/32 stems. |

Yep. The fittings are available at most auto parts places. The napa near me stocks them. Why teflon? Are you going with a positive seal due to oil use? CJ |

Air pressure will hold the valves real well. Even with a 1.44" exhaust and 80 psi there will be well over 100 lbs pushing on the valve. exactly how much depends on the actual diameter at the seat. You need a sleeve over the stem to protect the seal. You can make one with shrink tubing. The other tool is just bar stock with a hole in it to push the seal on. |

I thought the valve guides had to be machined so that a positive seal will lock on the guide? When I changed my valve stem seals, I used some (new) vacuum tubing stuffed into the cylinder, than rotated the crank toward tdc to lock the valves in place. |

i use a piece of nylon rope in plughole ,rotate by hand till it locks against vavles....if you use air and have leak...valve will drop...then off with head |
