This article is stolen from another board but seems to focus on flat tappet cam failure and the relation to modern oils. I appologize in advance if this topic has already been flogged but it's new info to me. Is there any truth to using diesel rated oils in our old engines? Lets hear how some of the big brains here weigh in on the subject. Oil debate |

I've been researching oils for flat tappet engines for an article I'll be writing for the Rods & Relics web site. You can read more about this topic on a discussion I started on the oil forum: Flat Tappet Engine Oil Another related discussion: Valvoline Diesel Oil in Gasoline Engines Polara Pat's first post refers back to a FerrariChat.com oil FAQ that makes case for running thinner oils in street engines: Motor Oil Basics |
