Post subject:  Knuckledown- Window Track Weatherstripping
Hello everyone. You may remember me from the whole window track weatherstripping mess that took place about a year ago. Some of you got burned in that whole ordeal. I wanted to... I guess clear the air.

I sent a PM to Dan as he and I were locking horns over the whole deal. There were a lot of things I didn't explain, mostly becuase of the situation between my employer and I. I was buying the weatherstripping from my employer at a discount (+/- $.30 discount per foot) and selling it here with his blessing... So I thought.

Anyway, this is the PM I sent to Dan that kinda explains things.

Jeremy here. You may remember me from the window seal mess that took place about a year ago. You and I went round and round.

I wanted to stop by and apologize to you. A lot of things went down between my employer and I during that time that wasn't apparent to the outside world. I had the go ahead from the boss to buy the seal at my cost and sell it for profit. Once he found out how much I was selling, he got greedy and pulled the plug. At that point, I shoved all the orders in his face and told him it was his baby. We basically had it out in the showroom in front of everyone, which lead to my dismissal.

Although this wasn't fair to everyone else... I was a immature jackass and didn't care. I should have worked it out with my employer and the people here on /6. I won't ever know if he did take care of everybody, but I doubt it as greedy as he is.

I would post a public apology, but honestly, I'm too embarrased. I'm sure you can understand how stupid I feel.

The other night I was laying in bed thinking about this situation and it was eating me up. I just wanted you to know that I never had any intention of taking advantage of anybody. I know that I should have just cut my losses with the boss, but since he was being a greedy jackass, I let him take over the whole thing.

Anyway, I want to personally and sincerely apologize to you.

I would also like to sincerely apologize to anyone involved. I have and do feel horrible. I know it was only $20 here, $40 there, but hell, that's 4 or 8 gallons of milk.

I'm going to try and figure out a way to work this out. Maybe I need to go to my ex-employer and make things right and work it out. I don't know. I just feel compelled to do something. Maybe I'll be able to sleep at night.

It was never my intention to take anyone for a ride. I thought I was doing a cool thing and I lost control of it.

OK, but the best thing you could possibly do is refund all the money you received for which you didn't ship product.

I would really love to refund everyone. Problem is, I forwarded all the money, emails, addresses and so forth on to my ex-boss when he deceided that he wanted to be a greedy prick.

I'm going to stop in there on Monday and see if I can't reason with the guy and get some closure on this. Something I should have done a long time ago.

I would still love to have the stripping, but getting my $34.98 back would be nice too. Don't worry, I don't hate you. Hopefully you can make this right and be more careful next time.

I talked to my ex-boss today. It was a tough thing to do, swallowing my pride and basically kissing his butt. I don't mind swallowing my pride here and saying I 'F'-ed up, because I did. But when it comes to him... Ugh.

I think we're going to be able to work together on this. I have a meeting with him Monday afternoon.

Good luck to ya. I wasn't privy to the debacle, but it's never easy kissing someone's butt after they've made a complete douche bag of themselves. In my job that seems to happen all the time, and I don't have the luxury or being able to just quit like I used to :x

So the meeting was as rough as I thought it was going to be. This pompas ass sat in his chair and stared at his computer the whole time I talked to him.

He says he's not liable for anything since he never initiated any sales. I asked him to return the money and he said that he would have to discuss the situation with his father, (the owner of the business.)

I laid it out on the table and told him that if he wanted to be a dick, fine. Do it at my expense, not at other people's expense.

He said he would get back to me.

I hate to say it, but you should return the money at your expense and then try and get the money from your boss.

The right thing to do even though it's tough. After all you took the money under the pretense of delivering a product. Your intentions of cutting everyone a good deal don't make up for the fact that people got ripped off.

Hi, I think it is great that you are trying to right a wrong.

It is not a question of right or wrong or who is to blame. Innocent trusting people are out money.

You probably already thought of this.

Not sure if this would help you. But this is what I would try to do.

Get each member to write to you requesting either re-imbursement or product at original pricing you offered. Someone has the money. Whether it is you or your ex-boss, someone has to either return the money or send the product. If your boss refuses to give you the money back or you have the money , you and the ex-employer owe the money or the product. It seems the issue with the ex-employer is the money he is out (profit and overhead - usually 20% if he is not to greedy. I would offer the 20% (to help right the ship) to your ex-boss and your ex boss can either send the money back (from your list) or send the product at the cost you originally promissed. This way it is a win win. Your ex-employer sells the product makes some profit, your fellow members get their money back or a product at a price you originally promissed and last but not least , you right a wrong (albeit you may be out a few bucks-lesson learned). I think your boss would be stupid not to take your recommendation.

I was on the tail end of this at the time, never sent money. Mention to your boss that by accepting the money he is liable for wire fraud as well. Seeing as how he is a business owner it would probably be in his best interest to return the money...small price to pay IMO
