My orange box quit today on the way into work. A couple of misses...then a couple more.....no power......then silence and a roll to the curb. What was the number of that Echlin replacement box? I am currently running on a no-name replacement I keep under the seat of the truck (along with extra resistors, voltage regulators and, of course ignition modules). Ain't Slantin' great! You can just pop in replacement parts and be on your way in no time. I know SSD...I should switch to HEI. I think there are two Echlin choices, so this is an '80 truck. BTW the Orange box is of 2005 vintage, just in case some of you got paranoid all of a sudden. bwhitejr |

I had 2 MP orange boxes fail on my 73 Dart 318 car a few years back. I switched to MSD in that car. I run the Echlin ones in my other cars and never had a problem. |

Standard-BlueStreak #LX-100 for a 5-pin box, LX-101 for a 4-pin box. |

Does anyone know if there are any markings on the Standard LX-101 or Echlin TP51 that are visible so I can deteremine the brand of the no-name box I just put on. I does have a little more pep than the orange box it replaced. Just hoping it is the LX-101. I think the warranty on the Standard Motor Products said 5 years, while the Echlin said 1 year. Not that it matters when you are on the side of the road in the dark. bwhitejr |
