Ever hear of a fish Carburetor? How well might it work on a slant? |

The homebuilt "super amazing miracle economy" Fish carburetor would work as poorly on a slant-6 as it worked on every other engine it was tried on. |

I was looking at a few of them the other day at a friends shop and they didn't look hand made to me. Have you ever seen one? |

Are you referring to the Pogue/Fish 200 MPG carb that you could buy plans to build from the back of Popular Science? Or some other carb manufactured under the "Fish" name? Pics? |

Yep, I've seen 'em. "Handmade" not in the sense of shaping a lump of clay with one's own fingers, but in the sense of non-mass-production, small-scale manufacture. They don't work as advertised, no matter how fervently believed-in. ![]() |

As far as i can tell the Fish is different than the Pogue. http://www.fireballroberts.com/Fish_Story.htm http://www.mikebrownsolutions.com/bccfish.htm Interesting sounding, no claims of 100 mpg, that was Pogue. The newly made version is a bit pricey even if it did work well. |

The Predator carb was based on that design IIRC. |

Oh, my gawd. Is this guy really expecting money orders for $425 to start filling his mailbox? "Send us $425 via money order…we'll let you know when to send the balance due and get your carburetor". Look in the dictionary under "gullible", and in Bartlett's Familiar Quotations under "A fool and his money are soon parted", and in Notable Quotables under P.T. Barnum. |

Further research found that the Fish carb was very popular in England and was produce by the Minnow Fish and Reece Fish companys. Reece Fish was the better of the 2. It was also licenced to a Canadian company. Used ones can be found on popular net sites, $800+ is a bit steep when used are around. I looked up the Poque and it is wierd! seems dangerous super heated fuel vapors etc. Fish is nothing like it. |

[quote="MichaelS" I looked up the Poque and it is wierd! seems dangerous super heated fuel vapors etc. Fish is nothing like it.[/quote] Smokey Yunick played with that super heated fuel thing. (I think) I need to buy a copy of the book he wrote. "Best Damn Garage in Town?" |

Three volumes? Like the same book but they removed the info on the MPG stuff? I heard he sold his research to some company in Georgia and it hasn't ever resurfaced(?) |
