Post subject:  How did Chrysler crimp wires together?

While I am getting rid of my lean burn wiring , and unwrapping the wiring to trace them all,I noticed like there are 6or7 red wires crimped all together. It does not look like it was soldered , just all the wires like squeezed together tight . I cut the wires of that I did not need.Would it be ok to leave the other wires like they are, and what did chrysler use to crimp these wires together?

Thanks
Dave

I would solder them(dont use acid core solder) with a good grade of solder. You could also use ring terminals and a brass or copper bolt and nut(small and as short as you can get all the ring terminals and the nut on). Then use heat shrink tubing over that. Chrysler had special crimpers that they used for the connections the wiring harness was made else where and put in as the car was built.
