| Post subject: | Ammeter to the left/New Tachometer |
I installed an aftermarket tachometer on my Dart last night (cheapest one i could find at Checker Auto.) This is how I wired it: Black wire grounded to car body. Green Wire to the negative terminal on the ignition coil, (marked as - on the coil, side closest to car grille) White wire to the #1 fuse Red wire to the #7 fuse. White wire is for lights and is supposed to go to a fuse that is only active when the lights are on, red wire is power and is supposed to go to a fuse with at least 12V. #7 is 20V. The first time I set it up rough the tach light would come on when the headlights came on. However I had to abandon the project midway so I never got the green wire connected to the coil. Last night I ran the wires properly so they are nice and neat and protected. The tach shows rpms but does not light up when the headlights are on. Also, my ammeter was running to the left today for the first time. The needle is riding around the first tick mark. Could these two be related? |
