I have a line on one : but need help before I go look. : : Thanks for any info I have posted some pics over at the .com site of my Feather Duster Project. Here are some notes on what to check for a complete package: Inner webbing of the trunk lid and hood should be Aluminum (put a magnet on it and it will not stick) the bumper reinforcements (front and rear will be made of cast aluminum) Feather Duster Sticker on front fenders Aluminum intake manifold (good cast type not the later two piece "welded" type) Holley 1945 1-barrel carb with the "bullseye" annular economizer venturi large Exhaust header (should measure 2"/2.25" outside dimension, but exits the muffler as a 1 3/4" pipe) Manual Front Disk Brakes Aluminum bellhousing Aluminum cased A-833 Overdrive Transmission (or if you have the never seen Aluminum Cased A904 auto, DOCUMENT IT!) Aluminum Oil pump (unless replaced) 7 1/4" rear end (2.94:1 for A-833 tranny, and 2.76:1 for the A904) 14 gallon Gas Tank Economy Calibrated distributor(most got replaced with a standard one) Mandatory Catalytic Convertor Build Sheet at the bottom will say "85 - FEATHER DUSTER" fender tag should have the A31 code on it also All VIN's I've confirmed have all been made in the 'G' plant (St.Louis) so your VIN should start VL29C6Gxxxxxx did come with any combination of the following options: Rallye package (4 1/2" bolt pattern Rallyes, and stripe) Space Duster Fold Down Back seat Canopy Vinyl Roof Bucket Seats Air Conditioning Manual Sun Roof Map Light hope that helps your acquisition, -D.Idiot ![]() res0aus2@verizon.net |

The Feather Duster package was supposed to be a serious attempt at fuel efficiency, and an auto isn't really that efficient, compared to a manual trans. Roger GTS225@aol.com |

Of course, a Feather is a pretty rare bird altogether. Somehting like 3000 of them made, as I recall. Probably less than 800 automatics. Yep, not many of them floating around. Quote:

Sorry my mis-wording. My mind goes into some idiot-savant litany when reciting the package list. The A904 appears on the options list, and was aluminum cased to save weight on that small beast, but to date every owner and/or enthusiast I've talked to.. has 'never' seen an automatic optioned Feather Duster or Dart Lite. Weird. sources estimate that the production run of Feather's was about 3000+- of the already limited Duster lineup (only thing rarer would be a 1976 Duster 360...) One thing I did forget in my list is the front blinker/marker lamp lenses are Amber not "clear like the 1975's. let me know what you turn up, hopefully we can save some of these as they regularly get bought up by the diehard big-block/small block conversion crowd and ruined. (Or they get turned into pop cans because no one wants to fix the brittle aluminum parts that are a quarter of a century old...) -D.Idiot res0aus2@verizon.net |
