| Post subject: | Shock Replacement |
Im replacing the front shocks on my dart, ive never replaced a shock myself and have questions. How do you keep the entire top half of the shock from spinning? Where the Shock is bolted to the fender. Ive tried having 2 wrenches, one hanging onto the bolt and one on the nut, but seems like an impossible task to get the bolt off. I cant keep the top half of the shock from spinning with the bolt. Probably something simple im not doing, right? lol Any tips? |

Wrap a hand or a strap wrench around the body of the upper shock and hold it while you turn the wrench on the nut. Alternatively, I have been able to put a 1/4 inch wrench on the flat spots on the tops of shocks to hold them from spinning while I use another wrench to turn the nut. |

You've got the right idea, tho your shock absorber's central stud may be rounded off. Grab and hold it good and tight with a Vise-Grip. |

An impact wrench can usually spin the nut faster than the shaft, so you can get the nut off. Do it in bursts.......... |
