OK...purchasing parts to do the dual reservoir master cylinder upgrade. I have 11" drums all around. After reviewing some past discussions, I ordered a Bendix 11516 master cylinder from Rock Auto, which is supposed to be the same as the Raybestos MC36338. MC arrived today. The box has the correct number on it, but the master has the larger rear reservoir common for a disc/drum setup. I doubt that this will work properly for drum/drum brakes. Any thoughts? |

I noticed that myself, since I'm in the market for a master cylinder for my '71. It looks like for whatever reason Bendix make the 11516 with the disc type reservoir (big/little). I can't think of any reason why this shouldn't work for you; the other way around is the potential problem (small reservoir with disc brakes). I'd go ahead and install it. |

Thanks for your reply, Dan! From reading the posts on the subject, I was wondering if it would have different PSI's on the residual pressure valves...and if it did, would it matter. My guess would be that Bendix uses the same casting for drum/drum and disc/drum brakes, but uses different guts depending on the setup. I'll give it a shot. If it doesn't work, I'll hold onto it for a front disc upgrade...down the road.

There are likely no residual-pressure valves at all. None of the current-production master cylinders is listed as containing them. |
