I am currently running a Holley 4360 "Economaster" carb on my 5th ave, and I am planning on running one on my brother's 74 225 equipped Duster. The problem is Iam having a heck of a time finding any info on these. I know they are spreadbore, 450 CFM, economy minded carbs, but beyond that I can't find much info. The Holley list of carbs indicates that almost all 4360 carbs have identical internals. From searching various message boards (via google searches), I have learned three things: (1) most hot-rodders hate the carbs because of their low CFM rating, (2) these carbs are often criticized as being hard to tune, and (3) these carbs are apparently prone to corosion and clogging of the air passages leading to poor performance, and it is difficult to rebuild the carbs and restore air flow through the passages. I would like to learn more about these carbs since their size is just about perfect for a slant six or economy smallblock. Does anyone out there have any Holley tech books discussing this carb? Any other literature discussing it? Thanks! |

The older Holley Carburator book by Dave Emmanuel has a section on that carb...it was designed to replace the quadrajet on Chevy motors and provide better emmissions and economy to that line of V-8's... other models for other makes followed. The newer books on Holley do not have it other than a mention as it passed along like some of their other 'odd' models (2305...) You should be able to find that book used for a reasonable price... -D.Idiot |

Thanks DI. I will start looking. I found a section on it in my Haynes Holley Carburetor Techbook. Not much info, just an exploded diagram and basic disassembly/reassemby instructions. |

AHA! I found a book on eBay written by Dave Emanuel, published in 1980, dealing specirfically with the Holley 4500 and 4360. It is supposeldy all about tuning and modifying them for performance and economy. Cool. |
