No. Points aren't going to work with your electronic ignition parts.

Have you got a manual of some sort to work with?

How about a camera. Take some pics of what you have. Show us your distributor, and what you've done so far. Draw your wiring up so we can see where your going.

Do you have a multimeter to work with? Something to test for voltage, and continuity of your wiring? Very useful!

It's very hard to work on something that we can't see, touch or test. Give us some more information so we can help you out! :D

Is your base timing right? Is the rotor 180 degrees off? I don't know why you would want to put a points distributor in place of an elelctronic ignition system. I encourage you to try and get the EI system working.

Post subject:  it runs

i got it to run today. it runs rough and pops thru carb when i took it for a spin and had to go up a small hill. do you think its still out of time?

Absoplutely. Make sure are not timing it with #6 at TDC and not #1 at TDC. However, since you have installed points, you should also double check the point gap, dwell, nd make sure the condenser is in good shape.

I actually don't know much about points systems, other than how to replace them with electronic ignition.

The ballast resistor should be wired into the (+) feed to the coil on a points system.
