I took apart a BBD a few years ago and want to rebuild it. It has a slightly worn throttle plate shaft but after looking at the "Buzzard" Carb rebuilding site I think it is worth a try-I have the rebuild kit already and everything is cleaned & disassembled. My issue is the orientation of the throttle plate on the shaft. I had these placed in a box situated in a manner that wold allow me to assemble them as they came out but low and behold this box has been moved along-w-all my belongings to a new home about a year ago. I discovered the box had been subjected to some shuffling alonf the way so I'm asking if there is a way to orient the plates on the shaft properly.
Thanks-Howard

The edges of each throttle plate are angled — a cross section of the plate transverse to the axis of the throttle shaft would be a parallellogram, not an oblong. The plates get orientated such that the slanted edges contact the throttle bores squarely and evenly; once you've got the plates installed right way round and right side up in the shafts in the throttle body, hold the assembly in front of a bright light and hold the throttle lever in the "closed" position. Shift the throttle plates around until you get as little light as possible around the plates, and it's even (no "dark on one side, lit gap on the other").

Good luck...!

Thanks for this explaination. I will do this today and make sure they are oriented as per your post. I greatly appreciate it.
Howard
