Post subject:  Manual choke...?

Ok, well it starts when I notice the choke goes on everytime i turn off and and back on. I know my engine is still warm enough. My father keeps on telling me to get a manual choke. I saw a few kitsonline but couldn<t find one for the slant six.

I wondering if some has done this to their slant six? If you had pictures it would be great.

So far I have a temp guage and I'm looking for an electric rad fan. If anyone of you have tips or tricks, it would be greatly appreciated

thanks again,

Hammer

EDIT: vehicle is 1983 D150 Carter 2bbl BBD carb.

Carburetors set up for manual chokes have much longer choke levers and staging springs or bypass poppets. Manual chokes put on carburetors meant for automatic chokes usually wind up kludgy and problematic. There are no Slant-6 specific kits, just "universal" ones that you have to adapt by guess and by gosh.

Sounds like your choke thermostat heater or its control circuit isn't working properly. Why not just fix the problem so that the choke works correctly? Put in an Electric choke kit #1232. It's fully adjustable and works well.
