Since my favourite E Beam manifold finally melted through I need some new options.

One option is a cast iron Super 6 to replace my E Beam...I have one....too heavy.

I have an Offy manifold I could put my BBD on.......

I have a Carter 4758S I could put on the OFFY.

Im an EFI guy....is that a good carb? How big is it? Its on a running 318 with a Holley Streetmaster single plane manifold.

Should be a 625-cfm manual-choke carb. Kinda big for a slant-6...maybe okeh if you disconnect the secondaries?

Offy + adaptor + BBD or whatever 2bbl is presently on the tinfoil intake seems like a good plan, nu?

The diecast manifold is toast....I got my moneys worth: 10 years @ free.

The Carter is indeed a manual choke but has primaries the same as a Q Jet,,,,,and far smaller secondaries.

It sez AFB Competition Series.

The OFFy neds an adapter no matter what I put on it....

Turns out this is a 4758s....a 500cfm carb.... (hard to read #)

The biggest downside to upgrading from the Super6 would be the stock ex manifold/2.25 pipe.

If the primaries are outboard the linkage hits the manifold in a minor way....
If the primaries are inboard the linkage wont work.

If I spend 10 minutes a day.......

Well, what's 125cfm between friends?

If the primaries leave Denver at 2:25 in the afternoon, headed East at 35 mph against a 7¼ mph headwind, and the linkage departs Kankakee at 4:13 that same afternoon, headed West at 57 mph, when and where will the linkage hit the primaries? Assume constant speeds; show your work.

Probaly need to get a "strip kit" to rod and jet down for a slant.

What if it gripped it by the husk?

Actually, I wouldn't play with the calibration just yet...

Carter AFB's are notoriously right most of the time. after all my fiddle farting around, if I set mine up with the stock calibration as a 500, it's pretty close to perfect. If I stick the 600 boosters in and jet back to the stock 600 settings, it's pretty close to perfect. The joys of an air valve. If it doesn't want to breath the secondary, it won't. You may have to play with the weight to get the secondary to come in right, but maybe not.

There might be a tad of messing with the accelerator pump lever hole, or the shooters, but that remains to be seen. Stick it on there and see if it behaves.

It's nice not to have to dump gas to change jets or metering rods!
Did I mention no leaks...
