I have been trying to find out what years these would have been available. They are steel rims with slots and came with the dog dish caps. Coker even offers baby moons for them. Didn't know if it was a sixties or a seventies thing. These could be an affordable and interesting rear wheel for the project I am planning. Thanks for your help. Wayne. |

Theyare getting pricey. $50+ a piece. Came on all the cop cars until Ma quit making RWD. Definatley were in the 70's too. Edit: check them on a spin balancer as many are bent in my experience. I think Stockton wheel may make them. I wonder if they are available in repops? Super Coupe wheels are 8" |

I think they are being repoped but are 150-200 each. They are made from steel twice as thick as standard wheels,so thier very strong and very heavy, the 15x7s weigh 27 lbs each. |

Frankly, I don't think they are worth it. They look cool, yes, but they are much heavier than stock and are getting way overpriced. Over the years I bought three full sets (thats five rims, gotta have a spare) WITH the cop dog dish for $50 a set. yes, $5 per rim and $5 per center cap. Now people want $50 per bare rim. You can find lighter rims that looks just as good or better for that price. Slotted mags come to mind. |

The "six hole" version of the wheel started sometime around 1980, and ended in 1989 with the last Diplomat/Gran Fury copcars. I *love* these wheels- they're pretty much indestructible and look great. You can wrap plenty of rubber around them- I typically run P255/60 R15 T/As on that wheel. In case you can't guess, I still love the look of big, sticky, meaty tires on cars, I DESPISE the stupid look and sh*tty handling of 30-profile rubber bands wrapped around 17-20 inch wheels. But like all good things, they're getting stupid expensive, so I probably will never get any more (I've got 10 wheels, IIRC). I picked up some of those for like $10 per wheel years ago, stripped and re-painted them. My favorite set is on my Polara with '69 vintage "red circle" dog dishes with the Dodge Fratzog in the center (bought at a swap meet for like $15/set). I used cheap and readily available trim rings off of an early 90s Chevy C/K pickup. Works particularly well since the interior of the car is also red: |

YEP, in 15X7 and 16X10, painted, chrome, or raw.

Thanks for the input guys. If you think they are getting expensive try pricing some torque thrusts or any other vintage style wheel! They do have a nice look for a steel wheel. |

They actually came out in '77..on the last Plymouth Gran Furys and Dodge Monaco C bodys. I've always wanted to try some 16" rims from a Crown Vic police car. |

I like these wheels, I've had them on my Volare for several years. They are getting pricey, as has been pointed out. I kind of like the idea of getting some aluminum wheels, they would certainly be lighter. |

I am going to argue that those wheels were out before '73. Maybe even earlier. |

Well, since I don't actually have the date I can't argue too strongly.... but I never recall seeing them before the R-body days. Plus a boneyard close to me used to have quite a few 73-75 B- and C-body copcars that I picked over for of a lot of items (100A alternators, oil coolers, PS coolers, etc) and they all had the non-slotted 15" steel wheels (15x6, I think, but they may have also been 15x7.)
Maybe even earlier. |
