While getting lost under the hood (again) of my '71 Dart /6 I discovered a wire going from the relay starter-motor pole directly to the + pole on the coil. This would give the coil a direct hit of 12 volts when the ignition key is turned to activate the starter motor. Q: Is this necessary ? Unhooking it does not effect the starting of the car. Thanks. This kind of bypass wire isn't needed (or original equipment) on Mopars, because the factory wiring already has a ballast bypass that shoots full line voltage to the coil when the starter is engaged.
