I've been looking at pictures of different early A Bodies to see what kind of back up lights they have as I'm looking for a rectangular housing maybe 2in X 4 to 6 in long or possibly a square housing for a project I'm looking at. It's got to be separate from the actual taillight. Probably 99.9% of the pictures show only a frontal, 3/4, or side view. Does anyone know of anything suitable as I've described it?

Start from the other end of the project: What kind of a project do you have in mind? Adding reversing lights to a vehicle that didn't originally have them? More details, please, what do you want to wind up with?
