What size exhaust tubing should I use on my 63 Dart.

It is a stock motor, and it has headers. I only use this car for racing, so I was wondering what size exhaust tubing you guys run for the most power, but still have enough backpressure. Thanks.

Enough back pressure? :x No such thing on a 4-stroke-cycle engine.

2 1/4" works well if you use a good muffler. I like the Walker Dynomax Super Turbo and also the Dynomax Ultra Flow if you want it a little louder.

Race car with headers.........

Is it 3-2-1 or 6-1?

3-2-1, I'd do 2 1/4 merged to 2 1/2

6-1, 2 1/2

Or 3-2 dual at 2 1/4

It's 3-2 headers, and I'm going to keep it dual exhaust, and run one pipe over to the other side.

Single exhaust is cheaper, lighter and makes every bit as much power as duals if done right.

And it still sounds good!

Why do you want an exhaust system (mufflers)? Just use pipe(s) off the collectors, the same dia as the headers, to clear the engine compartment.
Make sure the exhaust does not blow on anything that can burn or melt.

You'll gain some power with an X pipe.......

I'm with Charrlie. Just dump them under your butt.

That way you'll almost be able to hear the engine running when you stage next to a Gasser!

slants sound good with a straight pipe they sound like a massey ferguson 300 combine with no muffler

Dual straight pipes would be neat! Some tracks require mufflers to pass tech.
