hi sages- when one is restoring an old car which probably sat for a number of years questions come up which were never thought of before. my 80 volare wagon restoration needs a new dome light socket. when i took the lens off and the bezel plate i noticed the socket which holds a barrel style #561 bulb in what looks like a fuse holder socket(double spring clips on the sides) was completely corroded and crumbled. the holder snaps out of the bezel (has plastic ears). no one has a replacement, dealer or 4 car parts stores, nor does rock auto. does anyone have one or know a source? i can push out the metal spring clip terminals and could push in new ones if i could get them. then it would be a cinch to recrimp the two wires to the terminals. was going to check year one but dont want to take out a 2d mortgage. any thoughts on the part or a good source for electrical terminals that i could adapt would be appreciated. regards bob f bet nobody here has replaced a dome light socket . |

Well, I would think that you could get one from a junkyard. I would also bet that a dome light socket from an M-body might also work, which would make it easier for you. You could also see if Radio Shack has what you need. Good luck. |
