My horn decides when it will and will not work correctly now, so I want to get a new one. I know this might seem odd, but I want to put a Road Runner on
. Has anyone ever done this or would know how I could?

My horn decides when it will and will not work correctly now, so I want to get a new one. I know this might seem odd, but I want to put a Road Runner on . Has anyone ever done this or would know how I could?

Have you checked the rest of the horn circuit including the contact in the turn signal switch and the relay? |

I checked the turn sugnal switch and thats fine, but I have no idea where the relay it. I hooked it to another switch/relay and it did the same thing. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't, and sometimes it will make a funky sound. |

The horn is grounded through the bracket that fastens it to the car's body. Refresh the grounding by removing the horn, and cleaning the bracket & its contact point on the cars body. Pull the horn button, and clean all contacts there and look for pinched or broken wire in there. Check for voltage drop from horn button to horn relay, and from relay to horn. Road runner BEEP-BEEP horns are readily available new. Just Google: "roadrunner beep beep horn"... Surprisingly ACME dose not carry that horn. |

You should have no problem installing the Beep Beep horn on your Duster. I installed one on my '86 GLH Turbo and it was as simple as unbolting the stock horn/unplugging the horn wire and replacing with the Beep Beep horn. Just be prepared to tap the horn pad twice to make the characteristic cartoon sound.....thats all folks!.....nico I got mine from Year One in the mid '90's...they were available in black or purple with/decal the way they came on the beloved Road Runners...........boy I miss my '69 383 RR... |

On the late Duster's the horn is attached to a "kickstand' bracket under the battery tray...after years of hiding under there both the horn and bracket tend to get corroded and rusty...he'll need an angle grinder with a wire wheel and a new horn if that is the cause. Most likely it's the horn button and wiring in the column going bad...Refresh the grounding by removing the horn, and cleaning the bracket & its contact point on the cars body. You can also "cheap out" and not have to pay through the nose for a 'proprietary' "beep-beep" horn as the Road Runner horn is actually a Jeep horn (WW2 jeeps and up through the CJ-2A) and you may be able to get one of those for a much better price (seen a few at swap meets for a whole whopping $10). -D.Idiot |

I've successfully drilled the rivets out of several old Mopar factgory horns and cleaned them up inside so they worked again; the only problem was due to corrosion. I used 8-32(?) screws rather than rivets to put them back together again, and with a new coat of paint you don't notice the screws. |
