Post subject:  Capacitor off of temp gauge?

Removed my instrument cluster in my '73 D-100 pickup to repair some heater wiring. When getting ready to put it back, I noticed what appears to be a capacitor hanging off one of the studs for the heater gauge. The body of this cap was hanging loose. The screw tab on it's side can only reach either a ground screw on the body of the cluster, or the blue wire at the ammeter. i assume it goes to ground and NOT to the ammeter. Right? And what is it for? Thanks!

Radio noise suppression capacitor so you don't hear the snap-crackle-pop of the instrument cluster voltage limiter points making and breaking. Not needed if you upgrade the limiter.

So the loose end indeed goes to ground?

Yep, it goes across instrument cluster voltage limiter and ground.

Errr....no! I have that one two, but this is a seperate one (looks just like the regulator one) which has a small, round, push-on connector to one leg of the temp gauge. This leg goes directly only to the large milti-pin connector in the center, and I'm guessing It's the signal input to the gauge. Would it help if I attached a pic? I'll shoot one and post it here shortly.

Well, it appears that I don't know how to insert an image. How?
