hi guys! remember me? while at the spring fling this weekend, in the San Fernando Valley, i scored a 2 bbl BBD and it came with an aluminum intake manifold. i believe it's a stock item. of course the seller told me it was perfect. seems to me that somebody suggested coating the intake with an epoxy to stop any porosity issues. what sort of epoxy is best for this task? i didn't need this hardware, but $60 for both pieces. . . yadda, yadda, yadda. . . . D~~~! |

Depends which variety of aluminum intake it is. Does it have a prominent ridge (weld bead) around the top perimeter of the whole manifold and each runner? What is the casting number? Unbolt the carburetor and carefully look at the manifold floor for cracks. Info on prepping the lightweight manifold with weld bead is here. |

casting number is not really important in my opinion, was it put together on a monday or friday, west or east coast manifold?,If you treat it like its a maybe bad one and do what I posted,It will no longer be a bad one.No issues with the ones I have done this way,Same casting numbers on both, one was welded horribly, the other one was alot better, but questionable, both good now, mark |
