I ordered a distributor gear from Napa last days off and decided to put it on my spare distributor today. It only had one side drilled for pin. I went to drill it out and decided to go raise hell tomorrow. It just pisses me off you go to do something and the quality of the new part is sh1t and it's also Sunday so I can't even go complain until tomorrow. Sorry but I needed to vent.

Just like Josh says, you have to line it up and see if it will even work, then drill it. The last batch I got I actually had to forget the 'factory' hole and make my own 90 degrees off center of the factory hole and 1/8" toward the dizzy body to take up the slack...

Same here, when shop finishes fixing my mechanical distributor with new bushing on the advance mechanism rotor shaft (it's bushed already but wobbly). Shaft is not issue. I'll have to redrill 90 from original drill with new correct drive tang. The old tang was drilled too large and is sloppy job.

Now, still searching for electrical schematic for the omni or horizon that used this mechanical advance distributor with hall effect sensor for 2.2 or 1.7 for one year only (1980) because the connector is not same as your electronic ignition system with module.

I guess it's time to do some measuring as the hole looked like it was drilled higher than stock one. Thanks for the info, it saved me from making a fool out of myself. Not that it would be the first time. LOL

Thanks that explains it. I should have looked at the FSM but thought it would be an easy pop old gear off toss new gear on.
