Post subject:  what angle should I mount my engine?
Dear All,

I am trying to allign my trucks drivetrain to keep everyting safe. I have measured my transmission end angle. Its around 7 degrees which means I must keep the same angle in the rear diff pinion. Is 7 degrees ok or should I try to change it?

you must keep the engine carb surface in a level position, the pinion is a different measurement all together,there needs to be some offset in the pinion angle to keep the u-joints spinning in there cups and to keep the pinion angle from going negative when the suspension is under load.

My truck is 1973 dodge power wagon 4WD with a (swapped!) slant6 engine. My engine is at 7 degrees at the moment which is good for my rear end shaft angle but for the front it causes really big angle and 7 degrees caster. (its a must to keep all pinion angles the same right?) So is there a standart for engine mounting angle? maybe its the carb that determines this angle. I will stick with carb level I think. It makes sense..

yes , you must keep the carb level to the ground so floats work right, your drive line angle have to be sorted out after by rotating you axles or lowering the high of the engine in the chassis. if you are using stock mounts you should be close :?:
