It sounds as though the oil rings may be stuck. Often a few hours of operation will free them up and reduce the smoking. Typically if it's valve seals you will see smoke when starting the engine after letting it sit for a while. Elsewhere on the board I believe there is a recipe for an engine flushing soup which you might find helpful. It certainly wouldn't hurt anything to replace the valve seals too. |

I have the same feeling - I didnt replace the valve cover after lashiong the valves - and I noticed one or two seal not looking kosher ![]() I had the advice to pour some WM Penn Valve ease down the carb as well. Have flushed Wil do so again! - was thinking aboput pulling the head and checking out the cylinder bores - have the gaskets |

I would run some Rislone to help free up the oil rings for a oil change or two. They should seal right back up. It never hurts to install new valve seals. I saved many old SL6 Valiants and Darts when I worked at Bellingham Auto Wrecking during my college days. You can use a half a quart of tranny fluid, but Rislone or synthetic oil are much gentler. |

Use soup if you can get all the ingredients or reasonable substitutes. |
