Post subject:  Australian 265 Hemi 6

Kinda off topic here. but someone may have a answer.

Long story short, I have come upon 3 Australian Hemi 6's.

Has anyone ever up one into a american A body before?

I have heard they are taller, and use a different K Frame, But wondering if i need to use it, or if the original can be modified.

I have tried searching, but my Google Fu must be off.

TLDR Story
My brother in law's step dad passed away a few weeks ago

His step dad was Jack McCoy.

Some of you may have heard of him, for those that havent, he had been racing since the 50's, and raced Winston West from 64-74.

He took his cars around to the Fruit Yard and the college in Modesto, he ran McCoy Tires in the Valley too.

He wrote a book called Racings Real McCoy, pretty interesting if you find it. He also ran the Cannonball Run in 75, coming in second.

We went to his storage shop to sort out the cars between my brother and law and Ernie Conn yesterday.

His 69 Daytona was there, his 2 50 Dodges, and a bunch of other stuff.

He also has Ray Elders 71 Charger, and Bobby Issac's 71 Charger.

He is selling a 70 Chrysler 300H, he has a new 300C, that is totaled but the hemi is still good, and he has 3 Australian Hemi 6's he will sell, one is mine, but he will sell the other two.

I guess they have some kind of Nascar/sportscar meet at Sears Point in a month or so. They are planning to bring all the cars to make a lap of the track

I have some pictures of the cars if any one is interested.

The Hemi-6 can be reasonably easily adapted to many A-bodies originally equipped with a slant-6, without a new K-frame. I'm sure I've seen conversion mount kits to do it, but at the moment I can't find them. Send e-mail to Graeme at Blue Star Spares, Ray at Pentastar Parts and Restoration, check with Nev at GPRS, and post a query on Mopar Market Forum.

Aside from the different motor mounts and unique bellhousing bolt pattern, the main issue when putting them into a US car would be the length.. remember the AU cars are about 3.5" longer in the engine bay to make room for the Hemi-6 :P

And that rattle is only old lifters...put a new set in and and they are quiet.

The shop is in Modesto Ca. Still working on the price for the other engines, the 300H, and the 300c running gear.
