Post subject: | Point triggered Electonic ignition |
Hello! Got an oddball application for a Mopar sparkbox that I'd like to trigger using breaker points. I heard (somewhere?) that this can be done. Can somebody help me out here? Thanks, Jeff |

The only electronic ignition boxes I know of that will trigger from points are some early Toyota igniters like the one in my '75 Celica and many aftermarket ignition boxes that have a points trigger wire. |

Great! Just what I wanted. Thanks, Rust Collector. Jeff PS: I'm going to install it on a three cylinder Merc outboard motor. |

Jah, but der parts for dis motor ist expen$ive! Gott im himmel! A rotor (if you can find one) costs $200; a cap $150, and a spark box $400! I used a Chevy (sorry!) marine distributor and common NAPA parts (a 6 cylinder cap and rotor) to make the 3 banger run. I'd lie to improve the spark AND get rid of the points, so... Per the article, the points last forever firing the Mopar black box. Jeff |
